An incredible display of talent is coming to Barcelona this July with Chicuelo and Barcelona y Flamenco, a true master behind the finest rhythms of flamenco music and dance.
Chicuelo, an exceptional guitarist, performer, and composer, will take over the musical direction of the renowned show Gran Gala Flamenco in Barcelona.
Juan Gómez “Chicuelo” has produced and directed critically acclaimed works such as Zaguán and Desglaç for Miguel Poveda, Siento and Oscuriá for Ginesa Ortega, and Mi forma de vivir for Duquende. Furthermore, he has composed original music for legendary flamenco figures like Israel Galván and Antonio Canales.
Regarding the upcoming Gran Gala Flamenco Special Edition, Chicuelo shares that he feels incredibly happy and considers it a true privilege to work doing what he loves most. He adds that performing in Barcelona and sharing his art with audiences from so many different countries is a deeply rewarding experience.
Barcelona is his hometown, where he grew up and discovered his passion for the flamenco guitar at the age of 12 under the guidance of his master Casimiro González. Throughout his entire career and artistic projects, he has exclusively played the magnificent flamenco guitars handcrafted in the historic workshop of Julio Conde.
These grand flamenco performances await us on Tuesdays, July 12th and 19th, at the renowned Poliorama Theater, and on July 26th at the breathtaking Palau de la Música Catalana. The season continues on August 2nd, 9th, 23rd, and 30th at the Teatre Poliorama on Las Ramblas.
The stellar artistic cast features bailaores (dancers) Lorena Oliva Domínguez, Iván Alcalá, and Patri Domínguez. The cantaores (singers) include Raúl L. Amador and Joaquín “El Duende”, accompanied by Isaac Vigueras on the cajón box drum and Carlos Caro on the violin.
